Montana nonresident landowner get elk tags every year?

Overstating the obvious here, but New Mexico’s structure would make so much more sense for Montana than current state.

Same (or even better) upside of increased elk population, but access would be significantly improved.

I think that we need to clarify that there is a difference between the landowner preference draw and landowner tags. Landowner tags are when landowners are given tags to do with as they please. The landowner preference is 15% of the tags are put in a separate landowner draw. The only way the the landowner preference is a guaranteed tag is if fewer landowners apply the the 15% of tags. Landowner tags would be a new concept for MT. The landowner preference draw has been around as long as I can remember. Lee and Tiffany have found a way to game the landowner preference draw in ways that were never intended.

There is still a relatively easy way to a permit, and combo, every year for them.

And - its easier for them to circumvent enrolling in EHA. Because they get an extra BP.
