Michigan Limited Firearm Zone

I’m wondering what other cartridges that I can use in Michigan’s lower half? The rule book states that you can use a .35 caliber or larger straight walled cartridge, but it has to be a minimum case length of 1.16” and a maximum of 1.80” case length. Thank you for your time and God Bless.

Remington just released their new 360 buckhammer with these states in mind, I think they are being released in some Henry rifles. 350 legend and 450 bushmaster would be more established options and available in bolt guns

Also curious as a future denizen of MI’s lower half.

.350 Legend and .450 bushmaster have been the more recent legal flavors of the day down here. I primarily hunt north of the line, but have successfully used rifles in .44 mag and .357 mag below the line. I don't hunt field edges and limit shots to 125 or less. Coworker uses federal fusions in 350 legend (hard to find now) and has shot lots of deer at longer ranges with that round, if that is your thing.

The rule is simple, had to be to get past MIDNR political .

The cartridges that seem the most selected are.450 Bushmaster, 350 Legend, .44 Magnum, 460 S&W and to lesser degree the old .357 Remington Maximum. The .357 Mag is sometimes used for some.

Obviously, there are others like the 454 Casull and 41 Mag.

Just be fully aware the cartridge case maximum length limitation is 1.8" and absolutely no bottleneck cartridges are allowed.

There’s nothing you can’t do with a 450 Bushmaster here in Michigan. Check out Bear Creek Ballistics for some quality bullets. I had a custom Remington 700 built a few years ago and am 11 deer in with it, ranges from 35 to around 200 yards. I’ve never felt undergunned.
