Hey Marines, I was at the outdoor show in Harrisburg, Pa a week or so ago and stopped by the VFW booth. I found out that anyone deployed to South Korea after 1954 may be eligible for the Korean Defense Service Medal. I believe you have to have served at lease 30 consecutive or 60 non consecutive days in Korea. The medal was created in 2002 and I had never heard of it. It allows one to join VFW if you have not served in a combat theater. You can apply to have your records updated using DD-149.
