Got a hot tip about a sweet place to hunt elk in the high alpine.

My llama outfitter decided that 2021 seemed like a perfect time to 2x+ his llama prices so I decided to make poor decisions without any four legged companions.

Arrive at the trail... hmmm

Pro tip- Don't take advice from archery hunters. For March September is a green, muddy month. Some folks like it. City slickers mostly.

We bailed on that spot and moved on to spot two.

Not sure what it's like in Minnesota but this is not proper trailhead parking etiquette

A freezer in the snow? :ROFLMAO:

Seasons 5 days long, so basically at this point I'm greenhorn eyeing his ball pein hammer.

We concoct a plan.
1. Deepest, darkest timber
2. Really steep

I sip my morning coffee and commit to what is likely a poor decision.

We arrive at the trailhead to 3 rigs with outta state plates.

Decision is made to try further down. We will cross a tiny meadow and then enter the chit.

400 yards from the truck we enter one of those meadows that every unsuccessful midwestern dreams of sitting... I make a joke to that end.

Broken links for the pics we need to see? Absolutely devastating!

Congrats. Love it! We gotta take an easy elk when the opportunity presents itself. And I enjoyed the write-up. It’s similar to your pack-out. Succinct and enjoyable.
