Livingston BGF Banquet Saturday

Yeah, I'm still not sure what the deal with BGF is. Something about screwing up the wolf delisting, then proclaiming themselves the lords of wolf hunting.
True, they tried to scuttle the Simpson-Tester Rider and were called out by the NRA https://www.nraila.org/media/PDFs/NRA_SCI_CSF_Disavow.pdf

Also something about getting paid by Utah taxpayers and using the money for undisclosed nefarious purposes.

True, they've been enjoying the milk and honey of the taxpayers money with little to show: http://www.sltrib.com/news/2279953-155/utah-lawmakers-set-to-give-sage

I read an old thread here on HT that talked some about Peay and BGF getting paid by the state of Utah, but could anyone point us less-in-the-know folks toward a full picture of their BS?

One of SFW big money maker is the theft of tags from the general pool in Utah that have been allocated to the Western Hunting and Conservation Expo for the raffle and auction. As a result more tags are taken from the general pool lowering opportunity for annual applicants, funds raised by SFW (and MDF) have come into question recently, and additionally the RMEF bid for the Expo and was bizarrely denied the permit on some questionable merits.

There are other issues with them getting involved in other states as well, there are more issues, but these are certainly the biggest highlights.

Thanks JR. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond like that. Your links have sent me down a rabbit hole. It amazes me how influential or wealthy organizations and people can get away with what they do, especially when it screws over the vast majority of us. We live in a like, democracy, right? Right? One gem I found was all too familiar:

When asked how that money was spent, SFW President Jon Larson said that he guessed “the majority of it” was spent on conservation. However, Larson only recently became president of SFW and could not say for sure.

“That would need to be appointed through our board,” Said SFW President Jon Larson during a January 2016 interview, in regards to opening the groups’ books. “Technically we don’t have do that. There’s nothing to hide there.”
