I skipped the 3d shoot and chased some ground squirrels yesterday. Ended up with 16 with the bow and then pulled out the .22 lever to reach out and touch some spooky ones.

Axl did a great job finding a few of the arrows I couldn't find. Man does he impress me somedays. Nice to recover arrows that skip 40-50 yards out into the deep grass. He did get bit once trying to stop a squirrel that was running off with one of my arrows. I tried to keep him clear of live ones after that.

These guys didn't put up much of a fight.;)

Here is one Axl brought to hand. He got a little more excited with the bang of the gun and a flopping critter.

Cool pics... I have an older lever winchester...22 cal... they are fun..:) . how far were you hittin them with your bow?... Ps. make sure Axl is up to date on the rabbies shots.. .I like that full length body shot OUCH !

I think my longest hits werre 31 and 33 yards. Most were 15 to 20. I did take a shot at 81 yards and just about crapped my pants when it smacked a couple inches from him. Definitely would have been shot of the day.

I just sighted in my Henry .22 LR lever - it was off, as the scope mounts had gotten loose. It shoots head-shot groups at 50 yards now, and that it good enough for cottontails. Season starts July 1st for the wittle wabbits. I also changed the scope on my .22 mag - it is still crystal clear, but won't adjust anymore! It is my favorite ground squirrel rig, although I like my CZ .223 when they get shy.

That nasal cavity shot is impressive!!!
