Especially the berry ones! I could skip milk with my sack lunch for three days in elementary school (Mt. Rose in Reno) and buy a Hostess berry fruit pie for 15 cents at the Lander Street Grocery with my savings. Yes, that 1/2 pint of milk was a nickle. I am really getting old!

Little Debbie Pumpkin Delights were my poison. I haven't seen them for 20 years, along with about 20 pounds.

Never had any of those Things.

Had the Helms bakery truck, fresh bakery goods delivered daily, along with the milk man.
Chocolate eclairs, maple bars and old fashioned donuts were favorites.

We were not regular stops. Mom made donuts.
Helms went under in the 70's, always wanted one of the trucks. Chevy sedan/delivery.
Ate a hostess cake in JRHS, then got the Hongkong flu...never had another.

Years later I had an in with the Sunshine donut folks. I supplied apples for the fritters.
Refugee family from Nam & Cambodia. I walked into a packed shop and would get VIP service. Always pissed off the Admin folks....LOL

The ex was an excellent baker. Fresh crusty bread ,homemade cheese and jerky,almonds and dried apricots was hunting and fishing meals.

Never liked cakes much, hate icing.
Fruit pies are my downfall....
