Let’s talk about firewood

Red Oak, Ash and White Oak, with just a bit of Pecan here in the tropics for me. On a year where we have a proper winter I go through a little less than a chord. Last 2 years combined I used a chord. I will buy some oak this summer to supplement the Pecan and Ash that I get off my place.

I burn all 50+ year, standing dead, lodge pole pine mixed with some cedar. Endless, easy supply and it’s fun to split. Go through 4-5 chords/year.
Heats the whole house.

Meh…

I will care when it doesn’t go down I80 or by open rail car to a mill out of state. Where it will sit in a huge pile waiting to be processed. Cut offs will be sold as scrap wood or fire wood. Oh and now it’s local from the mill. Maybe that doesn’t happen much there but it sure does here.

Hell, It was put on a log truck in Oregon and ship it to Ohio to build an ark. People only care when you call it firewood.
Who the phuck gets firewood that goes down I 80!?!

Pretty sure most regs are talking about firewood you harvest on your own.

Even providers around here get their wood locally so not sure about wood coming from out of states.

Just check the regs, don’t be a jackass, and don’t spread invasives.

Plain and simple.

You completely missed my point. Have a great day!

Guess I can carry deer across state lines because deer cross naturally, don't need to worry about the laws dealing with CWD.

I’m a Stihl guy. Probably because my dad is and my granddaddy was. I currently have a MS 271 and a MS 391. They both are great for what they do, but I love to see those big wood chips fly from the 24” bar.

Deer get transferred from game ranch to game ranch in the private market, bad analogy.

For heat production, burn time and low ash, we don’t think it gets any better than Red Fir from the PNW. Family burns about 5 cord a year. Saws are an 046 and an 036 Pro

It's literally the same thing you said for trees: "lumber companies transport wood products across state lines therefore I can transport firewood." But "game farms transport deer across state lines therefore I can transports dead deer."

Both show that I can break a law because I feel I can justify it.

Don't take offense, This is kind of a public service announcement. Taking fire wood from IN to CO is not a good Idea. Uninvited pests can make the trip with the wood to a new home. It worries me that some one is going to bring camp fire wood from the Midwest and bring the Emerald Ash Borer with it.
None taken.....honestly, didn't even think about it. This will be my last year or so in CO so won't have after this.

I didn’t say that, don’t put words in my mouth that you assumed. You don’t read well.

Logs ok, firewood bad.
