It warmed up some today so I hit the chukar slopes. Got into 3 different bunches. Birds were still fat and in good shape. It was a good workout on the old snow, especially on some of the steeper slopes. Even Ranger is wore out tonight and that takes some doing. Fighting off leg cramps right now. Dill pickle juice really works.

Nice photos. I went out after redlegs today too, but I forgot my darned camera at home.

The snow level came all the way down to the Snake, which was a bummer. Usually, a nice snow line makes the day a lot easier. Guess where I found the birds? All the way at the top.

I put up a lot of coveys, probably 100-150 birds. About 35 of those were actually in range. Tough shots today, and I wasn't setting the world on fire either. Took a nasty spill in the rocks and dropped my gun so hard it knocked the cocking handle out, just got a new one ordered from Midway.

My dog is pooped and so am I.

Some of these birds were on top of the rim also. I also got into some on a south facing slope that clears off quickly. That's a bummer about the fall. I didn't fall today which is rare for me.

Nuthin' like chukar huntin'.

Been out after mountain quail three times since the new year. Got one bird each trip. If it wasn't for the great exercise and being out in the woods it wouldn't be worth it. Birds have been fat as a store-bought turkey.

I have never had a chance to hunt chukers. Jealous. Looks like a great hunt for all involved.
