I loaded the hounds late yesterday afternoon for bear.hump I made one pass in the truck and not a bump one form the hounds, then drove back down my backtrail. Either the breeze shifted or a bear moved closed enough to the road where the hounds could hit it and they did.

It was a blowout race that ended pretty darn quick, and a good thing too as dark was approaching.|oo I had taken five of the boys up on this run and they put the heat on that bear right now. Not a big bear, nothing to right home about but a bear no less!:D

Keep'em treed!

Ike,
Do you run bears as a guide? or just to train dogs?

I have worked through Wild Mountain Outfitters as a part time lion and bear guide for seven or eight years. I've about quit guiding the lion hunters because of the lack of tracks and number of days it takes to harvest a good tom in my region.|oo I still hunt a couple of bear hunters each year only because there are plenty of bears and I love the sport. hump However, Utah is not like some of the other western states with huge populations of bears. Anybody serious about hunting bears in Utah should look at the number of bears in the western states--state by state--before they put very much money and time into it. We still have some pretty good boars across the state only because of the limited-entry hunting.
