After much research and limited budget, I decided on the Kimber Hunter in .280 Ackley Improved. The plan is to top it with a Vortex Viper and Talley rings. My ideal load would be using fireformed .280 Norma brass with either 150gr. E-Tips or Cavity Back Bullet's 7mm bullet they plan on debuting this spring. As mentioned, this should be able to handle all the NA big-game animals I plan on hunting. However, if I ever afford an African safari, I have my eye on the .375 Ruger.

I think you made a great choice. That's an awesome round and a sweet gun. I'm thinking of getting one in 7mm-08 or 6.5 CM. Been debating between a Savage Lightweight Hunter and the Kimber Hunter. When I handled them side by side, I was sold on the Kimber. And I'm a Savage fan too. Just hope the Hunters shoot good. Let us know how yours does.
