I dropped my wife and her two friends off in Valdez on July 2ond after 5 days touring Alaska and then 5 days at my cabin in PWS. Only one of her friends fished at my cabin and she caught a 37 inch Halibut that made her day. She fishes in Kentucky and her biggest catch was a 12 inch crappie. She caught cod and rockfish too.
After dropping them at the airport on the 2ond I left Valdez to return the rental car in the Kenai and am now staying at my buddy's house ln Soldotna till the the 8th. My buddy put together a drift boat and we have drifted the Kasilof three days. First drift was great fishing. Last two were boat rides. We didn't know about the commerical fishing EO's.
Still don't know how it works as far as where the salmon will be on the river when commerical guys stop fishing.
My buddy will have to sort it out.
My buddy's family will only eat salmon smoked. I like it that way too but i've been eating grilled sockeye the last two nights for supper. My favorite
We are going to try fishing a few hours tomorrow morning without the boat.

Ended up not getting out till the afternoon for three hours. No fish. Not a fan of flossing reds unless they are there.
I'm back in Valdez. Hopefully heading back to my camp for 2 months in the morning if my transporter is going.
I can always catch a rockfish for supper there.

There was a bull moose along the way to river. We didn't stop like others so no good pic

I’ve never fished the Kasilof. The reds seem to be much bigger on the Kenai.
