Just GOTTA check again, and again, and again

Drew a B tag. After 4 years straight of drawing buck tags, haven’t drawn one since ‘22. Apps have skyrocketed where I apply.

Kinda sucks antelope districts are so big cause where I hunt I don’t really see anyone. Most folks are applying to hunt an entirely different area on the other side of the unit.

So it goes. Good luck to all.

Not happening anymore. That’s what the -30 permits are now.
They still do this in the unit I hunt. Reason being to sell the tags to guys with buck tags to cut down on the amount of pressure in a unit. Some b tags still go to a draw but some are first come first serve through the email

I wasn’t aware of that. Thought they had all gone to draw. Thanks for the clarification.

Just looked at the stats, I had absolute shyt luck in Montana with my 7 points considering the districts I applied. But again, I've been stupid lucky at home and Wy... 🤷‍♀️

Right. The regs book says for my district that successful -20 applicants may be offered the opportunity to purchase one or more ewe/fawn -30 licenses. I have not yet received an email from FWP, but I checked at the hardware store this morning where I buy my tags to see if they were available. The clerk said that she's not yet seeing them in the system. Hopefully, that will change in the next few weeks.

My guess is that by the time you drive down to the hardware store to buy one, they will have been sold out by the people buying them online. Might want to login right at the time they go on sale.

lol. Unlikely. I doubt these sell-out.

Got the email today telling me I had qualified to purchase up to (2) ewe/fawn tags. I ran by the hardware store on the way home from work and picked up one for $14 (I don't want to get greedy).

Do those extra doe/fawn b-licenses for successful applicants ever go on sale to the general public as leftovers?

I'm thinking not. If I'm understanding FWP's reasoning in making the tags only available to the successful applicants, it's to increase the taking of ewes in the district without increasing the overall number of hunters in the field. Maybe? Otherwise, you'd think they would make the draw only for bucks and all ewe tags (up to the quota, of course) could just be sold OTC.
