Its been nearly a decade since I first heard about golden trout. After hearing about them, and seeing pictures of them, they quickly jumped to the #1 spot on my list of fish to catch. I've tried numerous times, including today, to catch one. Maybe I'm just a fool, wasting my time chasing gold like those individuals did so long ago after gold was found by James W. Marshall at Sutter's Mill. Needless to say, it wasn't a total waste of a day . . . watching the mountain goats traverse the cliffs was awesome and the brook trout were happy to take a fly. On a positive note, I'll need to schedule another day to chase goldens!
