Javelina - 1, Spitz - 0!

Went out on my first hunt for the year and got skunked by some little stink pigs. Saw some great south Texas desert and put some warm up miles on the boots, but nothing yet. Little buggers will get theirs . . .

Rio Grande river. There's Mezzico on the left.


Saw javelina a plenty before I got to my hunt area.


After I put on the miles I even gave this magic gadget a big hug so that my hunt would prosper.


But, in the end, I looked in the mirror and knew that a dead collared peccary wasn't in the cards this trip.

I may give it a shot again around March. Will be taking the family up to Utah for the expo next month instead of a javelina trip I think.

No. It's rugged and remote, but the highway runs right along the Rio at times and it wouldn't take much to cross.
