Some days are just better than others! I just sealed the deal to hire another sales manager who is going to bring in another 200K a month gross via the 4 additional sales reps he is bringing with him... We will be bringing more sales folks onboard gradually so as to avoid tortious interference implications, etc. even though all these folks are approaching me and not vice-versa. Another company is shutting down and the few good sales people there are all wanting to talk to us....

Some days life in the business world sucks, but today - Life is good! hump hump

Bambi - I am in the title insurance business...a greatly misunderstood industry. We do the research and work to eliminate claims against the ownership of real estate, and charge a one-time fee for the work we do and for the guarantee we offer that there will be no claims or liens. People often say that we, as an industry, do not have claims. First - we do have claims and they can be huge, given the value land and homes currently have. Secondly - if we do our job right, there should be few claims. Who wants problems with the ownership of their home???

Are your title fees all regulated in Calif by the state? The premiums?

We file our premium and fee schedules with the state Department of Insurance and post them for 30 days. Technically, there is ongoing debate over whether it is "file and use" or "file and get approved." In some states, the fees are actually set by (promulgated) by the state government. They aren't in California. Personally, I wouldn't mind if they were set by the government. We actually just lowered our fees, across the board.

That is what I was wondering. Here, they are set by the state, I believe, so all the Title companies can compete on is service, not price. Seems like a rigged system here....
