I’m not positive what mange looks like, but this looks like what I imagine mange looks like. Maybe more lesions and open wounds. I asked AI and it’s positive it’s lichen growing on the hair, not mange. I’m going with mange.

Hard to say. Lots of things cause hairless. Mange is caused by lice, "ringworm" by a fungus, and apparently lichen can do the same. Maybe the local bio would be a good contact person.

Looks like it, probably psoroptic mange. See tons of it on the Elk Refuge. I used to have to take skin scrapings and ID mites under the microscope. Not super uncommon, especially in winter.
