It has been a week since I got back from hunting out West. I sat in my stand today watching all sorts of wildlife from my Indiana tree stand. Yes I enjoy whitetail deer hunting the hardwoods and fields of the Hoosier state, but honestly it is not the same. Each year I have to ask permission to hunt on property. The closest public land is 2.5-3 hrs away. Out West I just pick a spot and go no worries, if someone else beat me to it there are plenty of other places to go! I am thankful that we have our public lands to hunt, if I had never taken that first trip West 2 decades ago I would not have the appreciation for them, or maybe if I had lived out West where I could always go to them I would take them for granted. We are blessed to have OUR public lands, weather you are a hunter or hiker, a mountain biker or skier! I know I don't have to tell anyone on here to remember this when you cast your vote, but do you think your neighbors know, or the lady at the grocery store thinks about it when they vote? There is still time to inform people what they have, and what they can do to keep it!

I'm thinking the same thing about 2019. Just came back from a South Dakota Deer hunt where I got to see a huge bull elk, tons of deer/pronghorn, and a lion. While I missed I still had the privilege of shooting at two really nice bucks after long stalks. Unfortunately I shot over both of them with one being a demoralizing miss at around 50 yards after sitting in the wind and rain for 90+ minutes waiting for it to stand. I can't wait to get back out there! Hopefully a put a nice whitetail down this weekend or am able to put my fiance on one
