Anyone use the Impact digiscoping set up? Thoughts?

I ordered a kit for my spotter. Should be here hopefully by the end of the week.

I think it's a little more popular in the birding community than the hunting community, but that's all good. They take their stuff seriously. I've been using a bino/tripod adapter for like 10 years that I found on a birding website.

Looks very close to the Ollin one I have.

Love the magnetic attachment. Game changer since before this I had to screw my phone on to the eye piece. Hated that version. Love magnets

Do you put the adapter on your everyday phone case, or do you have a separate case that you put on with the adapter on it? I'm not super familiar with the Ollin one. I like the idea of this one having only that little mag block on the back. I don't think that would bother me on my everyday phone.

That's my hope anyway.

Also, about $100 cheaper than the Ollin. I can get a fair bit of fishing tackle with the money I saved!

All that really matters is FAST deployment and ease of use. S if your gear I have never hheard of being used by hunters does that you are good to go. If not toss it and get hunter verified gear that meat all of the above.

If it cannot be used quickly the moment you see something you want to film it is not going to be enjoyable and you will quit trying. IMO

I have one on my cheap spotter. I haven't used it in the field so grain of salt here.... It's slow to deploy, mainly attaching the plastic thingy to the spotter. Once attached it holds fairly well. I used it for now to take shots of the moon. Also it takes a bit of effort to work the thing onto the spotter.. be careful.

Hey I'm actually the designer of Impact Digiscoping, I happened to see this thread on Google. If it's tough sliding the adapter onto the eyepiece of your scope you might need the next size up. Most of the sizing information for various optics has been crowdsourced so occasionally a bad measurement gets through. Feel free to shoot me an email and I can get you fixed up.

I'm also very open to taking feedback to make the adapter better. I use it myself nearly every day and it works great for me but I'm sure people with different use cases have different needs!

Not to derail but the mountain mag is similar but not as restrictive on the flat back phone case which isn't many of them.

I have used the mountain mag quite a bit and it is definitely my go to adapter.
