I have a 22 Creedmoor Ruger American Gen 2 with a 20" barrel, 1x8 twist. I'm shooting ELDM 80 gr bullets at 3320fps. It shoots VERY well, prairie dog out to 400 yards +. But it has the factory muzzle brake. There is little recoil, so the brake is not really needed. All the people I shoot with HATE the muzzle blast; it is dang loud. I like the short barrel, and I don't know if I want to add another 6" with a suppressor; plus, the $1000 is a deterrent too. A nice thread cover is around $20 that would help with the issue. But I ordered this: "Kaw Valley Precision .223/5.56 Linear Comp 1/2x28 Black." I have read up on this type of muzzle treatment, and it sounds like I may like it. It is under $70 delivered, and I'm getting it in less than a week. Just some thoughts: it is 2.5 oz, so I think it will change the point of impact, so a rezero will be needed? With the shift of the escaping gases, I think it will increase the recoil slightly, maybe? It has some ports, so maybe a little less noise? But what I'm afraid of is that it is sending the noise out like an untouched barrel, sending it toward my game. Just the opposite of a suppressor, correct? Anyway, the buddies will be happy. Has anyone had a similar apparatus? Ideas?
