 After shooting a half a dozen coyotes this year without a miss I go out and call in 3 and miss them all. I want to blame the gun but I know the gun didn't miss I did:D I'm going to go out and zero it anyways.

Very frustrating. I was at the range getting some practice in before deer season and couldn't get any sort of consistent grouping. Turns out my scope rings were ever so slightly loose; so in that case at least I could blame the gun.:)

This is all of the fur my miss netted me. My local fur buyer said he will pass on it

I've been meaning to get out after some coyotes too, but then I end up going bird hunting instead! Then it will be ice fishing. Hard to fit in popping some dogs.

A couple of weeks ago I missed a yote at less than 50yards. I left my rifle with the land owner for him to use that next week and he said the scope fell off when he went to use. it. The week before that, I had used it for target shooting and it was making some great tight groups. I have no idea how the scope got that loose in a week. My fault for not double checking it. It's frustrating though.

Elkmagnet, What does a good coyote pelt go for now? I haven't hunted coyotes in years, but my son is "biting at the bit" to see if he can't shoot a couple. Like Idfishnhunt stated above, bird hunting has taken up most of my time right now. Might have to get out after them come Febuary.

cleaned and stretched $50.
Green (on carcass) $15

I'm not going to get rich but I'm having fun and paying for my gas and gear.

I hear ya elk magnet! I had a couple years where I just was getting "yote fever". Missed everything. Could hit a 5" group at 500, but not a coyote at 150! Finally got over it, that first one that went down was a TON of relief!

Hey, at least you got three called in!!!!

The old 870 is easy to zero in. We kill most of our yotes with shotguns here in NV.

We’ve all been there Elkmagnet. Head to the range to eliminate all doubts and regain confidence. A bad day hunting is much better than sitting on the couch wishing you were out there. Get back in the field and have fun; then post those pictures!

I have missed more pigs with range confirmed half inch rifles than anyone should admit. Swine fever I guess.
