DeLapp said he wonders whether McKean and the other hunters didn’t realize they’d trespassed at the time the bull was shot.

The bull died on a hillside and was apparently dragged about 25 yards onto a flat section of public land before it was quartered up, he said.

Given the sheer size of a bull elk carcass, DeLapp said it seems like a lot of work to drag it, even for multiple people.

So, he wonders if it wasn’t dragged to quickly get it off private property.

I’ve kicked elk and had them roll farther than 25 yards had to even begin to speculate how hard it would be to drag a elk 25 yards I’ve pushed dragged and pulled multiple bulls farther than that to get them to a better spot to quarter them up

The landowner acted illegally and childish by trying to take the trophy away from the hunters. If he believed it was taken illegally he should document, and call the law enforcement for the violation.
The hunter acted childish by brazenly hunting close to the property line inside the land locked public land to prove a point. Then illegaly when an opportunity arose for the trophy.
It sound like neither one acted appropriately to represent their side of the argument for this rule change. Anyone else who has an interest in this rule change now has egg on their face.

Yeah pulling an elk uphill to a flat public spot 25-35 yards away of an 800 pound bull elk when 4 other friends are nearby, all well versed in how to utilize Onx maps. They should do the right thing and admit who helped him drag that bull 25-35 yards and trespassed. He had the bull confiscated anyways….

The article you linked does NOT indicate the suppressor charges were dropped, rather just the opposite; that McKean was, in fact, charged with using a suppressor in this case.

I think you can be charged anytime you commit a crime while using a suppressor.

Obviously, the intent of this is violent crime, I didn't realize it literally meant anything.

In Wyoming there are four instances when a person can get charged for using a suppressor while "hunting":

1. Wanton Detruction
2. Waste
3. Out of Season
4. Trespass

So, if a person violates any of those four laws while using a suppressor there can be an added fine.
