what do you guys do on back country hunts to keep fresh. I sweat like a whore in church, so I'm figuring out what to pack. I'd like to find an unscented body powder to keep dry and prevent uncomfortable chafing.

You're going to have to learn to tough it out. Wet wipes will help, as will a bird bath in a creek if one is available. Gold Bond powder can help with the monkey butt.

I just spent a week in the Rubies with no excess water whatsoever. You'll smell bad, but that's life.

My old man breaks out in a sweat just looking at the mountain we climb for elk. It will be 90 when we pack in this Friday so I'll splash a little wallow mud behind his ears to alter his stink.

If the temps are good and the water is available then I suggest a solar shower with a little unscented/hunting soap. 4 of us managed to use one bag full daily...granted you won't be real clean just smell better. I used wet wipes, moist towelettes, etc before and that helps. Once you get used to your own "brand" of stink it really isn't that bad. Get yourself (you know the funky parts) dry and that will help tons.

Screw that. I bought a Zodi portable hot water shower and cabana shelter. Take a shower every 3rd day or so and baby wipe the other days and use merino wool boxer briefs and you stay ok smelling.

Hot shower every 3rd day or so and hit the 'hot spots' with wipes and/or birdbath in between.
Feel better = Sleep better = Hunt better

We hike everything in on our backs, around 7 miles so we can't afford the extra weight of a shower or anything like that. I buy a pack of Hunter Specialities Scent-A-Way wash towels. They come in a pack of 12, I usually wipe down twice a day with good results.

Baby wipes or whore baths as my momma called them are enough for me until I get back to civilization. That said, I've paid to shower at a few camp grounds/truck stops and didn't mind the cash outlay...

There was a thread about the areas nobody wants to talk about maintaining during a hunt but sadly it was deleted for some reason. Too bad as there was some good advice in there from nair to silicone being used. Not sure why it was deleted as it was not pornographic and I've seen plenty of the same adult language allowed on other threads. Maybe the mods don't like Dave Grohl?
