I drew a Montana tag and it doesnt look i will be able to make it opening weekend, I had a thought maybe waiting a few weeks hoping any pressure dies down. Outside of less people are there other advantages to hunting a little later in the season, do they group up more?

They group up more and the bucks start shedding their sheaths. The biggest buck i shot was the last day of the MT season and he hasn’t shed yet. When I grabbed his horns to move him the sheath popped off in my hand.

Don’t you want to take the sheaths off anyway for cleaning and curing? Asking out of ignorance.

Im planning to hit WY late season with my daughter this year due to work commitments that won’t let me get there opening week. Might bite us in the butt, but I’m hoping that it will actually allow the pronghorns to calm back down and that we’ll see fewer hunters. We’ll see
