How will public lands fare from this election?

Half of my years growing up I spent on my Grandfathers dairy farm in western Connecticut. Our farm equipment supply store was in Newtown, my big swimming hole was Sandy Hook on the Housatonic River,

Connecticut was home to Colt, Winchester, Marlin, Charter Arms, and a few other lesser known gun manufacturers.

Connecticut has extremely strict gun control. Columbine High School happened in Colorado.

You cannot buy Bump-stocks for an AR-15 in Nevada anymore.

California has had 282 mass shootings, and guns are the fourth leading cause of death for children there

Do not take it personal. When there has been horrific mass shootings, especially school shootings just expect strict laws to be passed against semi-autos.

Colorado is a "Hunting State". Using firearms to hunt will never be banned, but for now the sale of new military style high cap rifles is.

I am just an information messenger, I have an AR rifle. I hardly use it but own one.

My biggest concern is protecting our Federal Public lands

If anyone thinks the dems are better than the republicans you will be in for a surprise. They want your guns and hunting rights. Republicans want the money and soon the dems will also to pay for stupid stuff. Both parties. Different ways same results.
THere is one huge difference between these two parties. The Dems are capable of spending money like drunken sailors, just throwing huge amounts of experimental money at problems.

In that way they steal our National Wealth. But they will protect our public lands.

The Repubs, only care about $. It is their business model bottom line. Without out batting an eye-lash, they will take or lease forever, without regulations, our public land. They will also not regulate polluters of air, water, and land.
Profit comes before public health.

In that way they steal both our National Wealth and our National Health.

Useful roles backfilled at gov agencies.

Sustainable/selective logging, oil, gas, and power develeopment.

Every damn feral horse killed.

Increased acquistion of row/easements to forest/blm thats blocked.

An act passed requiring offsetting land be acquired for any sold.

Increased local voice in management decisions.

Repealing or at least greatly reforming of the EAJA.

Grazing fee codified increase tied to inflation.

Grazing being allowed for conservation purposes (ie bison).

I could add to the not come true wishlist if you want ;)
Point 3. Especially x1000000

Everything else seems reasonable.

Re oil and gas exploration. We truly have to be careful with that one. With the mineral exploration we have around here, the amount of public land that has effectively been cut off from public use (although maybe not legally cut off in all instances), is astounding. (Goes to your point of accessing public lands that are locked up)

Well at least I think we can have a beer and a conversation. I agree with some of your assessment. I just don't see Dems taking care of public land. No logging, forest clean up etc. because of whaco climate BS. All of these have hurt wildlife habitat. Dont think the Dems wont sell land in the name of affordable housing, schools and such.

I just cant trust any of them as a whole. Time will tell and hopefully I am wrong and we can balance things out and keep each other in check.

Good reply and always enjoy an open conversation with both sides giving in a little. Something I don't think will happen on either side.

I never had a horse that I so admired as a Mustang Mare that had some feral draft horse genes in her. She was like a four-legged bulldozer, low and easy for me to get on in my later years. Her instincts were amazing.

Having said that, I hold your #3 point be important. Lots of Mustangs,,,and Burros, ( Which are very tasty) have to go,,,but not so that ranchers could then just overgraze the land with more and more cattle.

Mustangs and Burros have been a great source of dog food. Did You see the Movie the "Misfits". With a tear in my eye I could go along with a program which could really trim thier numbers.

The goal being better habitat for wild game animals, not more cattle.

Having seen the damage both Mustangs and Wild Burros have done that is as far as I can go.

Mustangs Rule

Colorado's new law didn't ban semiauto rifles/shotguns w detachable mags. It requires owners and potential purchasers to take a class and get an eligibility card, similar to the concealed carry issue process here.

I share your concern, hence this thread.

Thank you for the clarification, It can get sticky trying to sort out confusing changes.

Well, Thank You, but will have to skip the beer. I am getting close to 79 and any alcohol just puts me to sleep now. Maybe it is payback for my youth when I loved to ride British Triumph and BSA motorcycles, kick start of course, and hit the rural honky tonk bars.

Looking back, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for being in one piece

The Dems will never sell an acre of Public Land. That is just how their political genes are firmly cemented in their brains.

There was a period of about ten years when I offered pro-hunting presentations to local chapters of national conservation groups.

After being both a builder and licensed hunting guide, at 49 I went back to school for years to earn my education credential. I taught biology and ecology at the high school level in a small mountain town. I also offered free outdoor education classes to kids and parents of our community once a month

I have always been a hunter.

They always invited me back, some conversations got tight at first, but all went well.

Once a year I held an early fall Wild Dinner Party at my ranch, the rule was everyone had to bring some dish with wild food in it. Dishes with deer. elk, quail and trout, the hunters and fisherman brought.

The Environmental Dems, picked pine nuts, made pancakes from acorn mash, made desserts with wild rose hips, made roast yucca roots.

We all had a great time.

Trust me, the Dems will never sell a sq. foot of Public Land, nor will they stand bye and watch it be ruined.

There’s still public land threats from the left. They just aren’t as overt, bold, transparent and immediate as a desired fire sale to the LDS church is

-Subsistence board closures to hunting and other federal game management over reach
-Renewable energy development
-Open Borders
-Feral horses.
-Land Back movement.

But they’ll lease it to a solar developer and you’d be hard pressed to find one that would publicly denounce the land back movement.

Long term, solar is probably a flash in the pan. The latter one is going to be a problem

Good point on the land back movement. The white guilt is heavy here in MN.

The list doesn't include the recognized boundary of the Mille Lacs reservation goign from 4000 acres to 61,000 in 2022. Whole lot of residences and businesses all of a sudden were on a reservation.
