I've done a little research but still unclear on how many different sub species there are?
Also, what sub grows the largest racks and where are they located?

Boone & Crockett and Grand Slam Club Ovis both recognize these 5 sub species of Caribou listed with the highest B&C score:
Mountain Caribou 459 3/8
Woodland Caribou 419 5/8
Quebec Labrador Caribou 474 6/8
Barren Ground Caribou 477
Central Canadian Barren Ground Caribou 433 4/8

Safari Club also recognizes the Artic Islands Caribou

I've hunted the 5 major species of Caribou, but I've yet to see a Woodland

All really great looking bulls, thanks for sharing

Unfortunately, Quebec closed their caribou season a couple years ago.
Yes, I had been wanting to hunt Quebec for many years and in January of 2017 I stopped by the Leif River Outfitters booth at the Denver Sports Show. I had heard that Quebec was going to close their non-resident caribou season, and they verified that. They said that they still had some openings that fall for their trophy caribou hunt, so I booked one.

My hunt was for the last week of the season and it turned out that the bull that I shot was the 2nd highest scoring bull that was regestered with Boone & Crockett in their 30th Awards period. That gave me an invite to their Awards Ceremony held at the Bass Pro Wonders of Wildlife Museum in Springfield, MO, and my caribou along with the other top scoring B&C animals were on display in the B&C wing of that Museum.

according to our elders, there are at last count approx 30 ;) But most recognize either 5 or 7, plus subspecies ( see below )

Peary being the smallest

the largest takes a bit more explanation. The easy answer is the Woodland. But the Woodland has three sub species. One of them is the Mountain. The mountain subspecies of the Woodland will give you the largest "racks" and the largest are located in The Yukon and Northwest Territory .

the cost for a 10 day mountain caribou hunt in 2022 is currently at approx 20000.00. 2023--22500.00,
