How many still tip waiters and waitresses at 20% or more?

Two things for me

We started a new rule in the house, don't tip if we're standing up to order. Heck even subway asks for tips now

We don't tip based on the taxed amount, only the pretax amount, but they always do the math on the full amount with tax, why should you tip on the taxed portion?

If i sit down at a restraunt ill tip 10%-35% depending on service and what not. If you dont tip - youre a few slots lower than the non cart returner.

At the same time - Im just saying no if you didnt provide a service thats traditionally tipped. If you made food for me - and i didnt get served by anyone much less taste it im lost on the point. The reason you tip is partially business feedback on what you were provided.

I went to a new brewery Friday night that had a QSR code for ordering. We ordered the food and drinks, people brought them to our table, we pay the bill online (which was convenient).

I did tip 20% but wondered why and where it was going. I literally had no service other than the smiling face of the people bringing the food and drinks. Do they get the $15 minimum wage or are they classified as tip employees making $3.63? There was certainly no “service” involved.

Bought my apprentice lunch the other day at firehouse. Would I like to round up for whatever the firehouse charity is. Sure I’ll do that then after rounding up 15-20-25% tip? It’s a to go sandwich at what point do you not need to tip for something
Normally I'd agree, the instance I was talking about my wife and the other waitress have known the guy (town veterinarian) their entire life. Nobody was pressuring him to the leave the $20.

Well, being raised the way I was has created a butthole so tight it won’t release BB’s. May also be a bit of a dick, but I believe in natural consequences. I tip according to quality of service. Yes, 20% is the standard. However, I go up or down.

Shiz, I’ve gone zero and left an actual “tip.” Stuff like, if you’re having a bad day stay home, or get a new job. These are extreme situations. One involved a piece of waxed paper in a burger that I swore was a bandaid at first. The Manager eventually gave me a free beer, but the second burger came 30 minutes after autopsy. Usually dips in tips are related to rude behavior. I don’t mind waiting if someone is respectful and kind. If you’re a d bag…

I also live in Spokane where my son was making $18 an hour at Subway before moving on.

I was referring to tipping actual server's at sit down restaurants. The card reader suggested tips are out of control especially at places where the employees aren't providing much service. I'll tip at a few of these locations like our local donut shop or bakery but if it's a chain I'm probably not gonna leave a tip (with some exceptions like a sonic car hop etc).

I'll tell you who gets screwed the most is the cooks. What a shitty underpaid job. My wife averages about $35 an hour take home waitressing. The cook makes $18 cash. What a rip off. That guy ought to be making a shit ton more. The entire business hinges on him and he makes about $3 more an hour than the bus boys. I wouldn't want that job for $100 an hour.

That’s party of being a community and probably why I tip the lady at qudoba when I was eating there all the time. Last week we got hit with a large party fee which was 25% 6 of the 8 where on one bill. So should the other 2 have to tip since it got tacked into ours. Which also had a spot to tip on it starting at another 20%

A lot of restaurants in Denver have a 20% service fee added to the receipt that goes to the staff. I'm all for it, but only went to a restaurant with that policy 1 time on the companies dime. A$340 tab became a $400 tab with the service fee, which became a $500 tab with the tip
