How many guys using Michelin LTX on your hunting rig? Experience?

On my third set. My GMC2500 has them on it, and it drives amazing. I am at 154,000 miles using them. I do a lot of driving across country (living in NC) and when hunting in either NM or MT. I have been in snow in MT with it and it is fine. I have more nicer weather than bad conditions on probably 80% of my driving miles.

Have my second set on my F350 SRW D. First set went approx 65K. We pull a med sized 5th wheel.

Has always been my go to. I can verify in snow. They were great. I was driving back mountain roads with no issue at all. And there was a lot of stranded guys

All I had on my Tacoma until they met NM dirt/gravel roads. Not great in mud and deep snow either.
These roads ate a set in 9 months. Shredded.

Had some Michelin Defender LTX Platinum on a '23 AT4HD...smooth/quiet highway tires, didn't do any offroad nor snow with em. Tread wear seemed ok...was my hunting rig insomuch as it got me to and from.

Really? They look like highway tires. mtmuley
A bunch of guys can verify. 5 of us in truck. 16" of snow. Normal f150. Drove hours on both untraveled and slightly traveled rds. Passed stranded jacked trucks with swampers. Offered to pull them out. 2500 GMC even got offended. Don't think I ever even spun out except our camp drive that is very steep. Took a couple runs to get up. My personel vehicles will never see another kind of tire. My work vehicles won't either once tires need replaced from new. Nice and quiet. Never had and issue in snow. I dont do mud so cant speak to that.

Can't do highway tires. You won't be pulling me out of the snow. mtmuley

The day after I bought my pickup I got a $200 credit at the tire shop for the brand new Michelin P rated highway tires it came with and swapped them for E rated Cooper AT3s. If you’re just running them on the highway and in town I’m sure they’re great, but they weren’t going to work for me.

I love the LTX on-road. They are mediocre at best off-road…and downright lousy if you want to push them.

My truck is a 2016 Toyota 1794 5.7 4x4 with a GoFast camper on back. I’m averaging about 15.4 mpg. I’m running Bilstien 5160/5100’s R/F. This is absolutely a Cadillac ride.

I had two flats on the Trans Taiga in deep NE Canada…glad I had tire insurance. They got plugged and replaced on-road and ultimately in the end replaced in full by Tire Pro’s/TireDisounters (*love those guys - shameless plug).

The Taiga is a 600 mile long fire-road. No nothing more, nothing less. Some washboard. Aired down to maybe 22 psi…pure luxury ride.

Of course, that’s good if you don’t get flats and your Wife is with you.

Anyway, they’re light compared to AT’s…they ride amazing for 90% of what ails you (highway roads in the wet or dry)…and when you get off-road in the dry smooth fire-roads they’re great.

Push above that, they are simply not designed to for abuse. No side-wall protection, no added grip, no wider shoulders.

My truck is my hunting truck. It’s not a daily. When i do replace the LTX, it will be with some BFG ATKO3’s or the like.

The LTX rides great on the highway…but that’s not what I need my truck for these days. Abuse, off-road, don’t get an effing flat GTFO grade use. I’ll probably never wear those tires out…but for their life, that’s what my truck is for.

So yeah. LTX. Love ‘em for the road. Amazing on the road.

And that’s where the road ends.

They are the best highway tire. I've used them on a bunch of my service trucks and my wife's vehicles. Long tread life and a great ride. They are not an offroad tire, if you want that performance you'll need something different or a set of chains with the Michelin's.

I have run Firestone Transforce AT2 for almost 30 years on 2 trucks; 1997 Ram 2500 4x4 (bought new) and now 2009 Ram 2500 4x4 (bought new). I have run them in deep snow without problems up to needing chains off road. Good side lug too. Good over road mileage if you call 14-16 mpg good in loaded truck for DIY tent hunt.

Its a commercial grade tire so little tougher for off road crap. I've had really good luck with them. Good road miles at least 60K usually.

======================
TIRE DESCRIPTION
The Firestone Transforce AT2 tires have a chip and tear-resistant compound so your commercial vehicle can take on rough conditions like gravel. Along with the ability to navigate difficult terrains, these tires were designed with deep tread features for more traction on wet and snowy roads to keep you moving forward.

Offered as Original Equipment (OE) tire on select vehicles.

60000 miles on mine. Not enough difference between them and Defender LTX M/S2 for my driving. 2WD Expedition with rear locker. Off-road use is forest roads. No snow. The Defender will give better rain performance on the highway, which is the biggest weakness of the A/T2.

My Tundra came with a set from the dealer.

So did my 4Runner. I was mildly pissed that it came with the LTX Trails, the US reviews that I’ve read are fairly poor. Reviews from outside of the US seem to be fairly decent though, so I’m rolling with them until it’s time for a replacement. I’m at 15k on them.

Can’t say I have had any issues, they’re a good highway tire but not what I would have selected for a vehicle that has “Offroad” stamped on the side.

“LTX” is a family of tires, not a specific tire. I have a set of Defenders on a Highlander and they are fantastic.
