How do you store reloaded ammo

Lots of great ideas listed here, the #1 thing is moisture control, cool an DRY. I also suggest keeping you storage area sprayed for pest after I had a run in one time with termites and cardboard flats for shotgun shells!!!

Rifle cartridges are loaded into MTM cases. I have a plethora of 20, 50 and 100 round boxes but prefer the 20 & 50 round ones.

Shotgun cartridges are kept in a couple of 20mm ammo cans - each fits about a case of ammo

Pistol are stored in mtm boxes for 50-100 rounds each, then stored in 50 cal ammo cans

All are then stored in the bank storage cabinet (fireproof and lockable).

Powder and primers are stored in a matching case next to the ammo.

One thing I will mention is that if it’s going to be long term storage, don’t seat the bullets all the way. Bullets can”weld”to a case, it will fire fine but your pressure will spike and the grouping will be off.

Write yourself a note on the details of the load and place it in each box along with a cut out of the target group. Then when you are ready to use them, go thru and seat them all the way to your COAL. They will be as good as new and should reprint the same grouping.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at these notes and cardboard cut outs to realize it’s been several years sitting on my shelf. Good way to refresh my memory.

Nice try, since I’m in the glorious liberal state of Colorado, all mine is stored under lock and key. 😉

I use 20 MTM slip cases for most. Some Berry's and Midway mixed in. If I find clean factory ammo boxes at the rock pit I will grab them and use them. Some bulk stuff for WTSHTF is kept in ammo cans or other random airtight containers.

I buy the 20 round slip cases OCD organized by color for cartridge. Grab a blue one out of the safe and I know its 6.5x55, etc. This means I have boxes from a number of brands to get the spread of colors for all the cartridges I load.

It's not hard to get the right colors of rifle boxes, but the flip top pistol ammo 100's can be a bear. They change them and it can be hard to go back and find a color you bought once before.

Once upon a time MTM was cheap. Now I find I'm not wanting to pay the price for it.
