How do you pay for stuff?

How do you guys pay for private purchases and sales? I've had it with PayPal. I've been smoked 3 times using PayPal. I've always been able to recover my $$ from them but it's a pain in the ass. Once with @Dave N , PayPal sent the $$ to the wrong guy with the same name but different email. The guy finally refunded my $$ but it took a while. Twice I've been a victim of scammers but got my money back eventually.
Some of the guys here I have sent a check to and gotten checks for stuff I sold. I've used USPS money orders both directions for larger deals. It's still a pain in the ass.
What are you guys using that is fool proof and commonly accepted?

You are out money with no recourse. PayPal is the safest. Most of your issues are self inflicted and not the fault of PayPal. I’ve never had any of the issues you do, I use it frequently.

Supposedly PayPal doesn't allow transactions for firearm related purchases. Friend of mine dealt with their bullshit. I won't touch them. mtmuley

I'll agree that some of the issues were self inflicted. No argument. As I get older I'll admit sometimes I could use adult supervision. I've also had PayPal misdirect a payment and seeing as how DaveN is well known I sent it friends and family, therefore PayPal wouldn't even look into it even though it was their mistake.

No cost to put in your bank account. If I sell something once they pay I transfer immediately if it’s a large sum. Shows up in your account in 1-2 days. Fees are if you use funds for credit purchases. Like a credit card. I have done hundreds and hundreds of Venmo never a problem.

If I am buying something not FTF, I only buy from known vendors, or if the amount is minimal, say less than $50 and I can take the loss, I'll just use Zelle.

Anything FTF, cash or Zelle if the person is cool with it. I don't keep a lot of cash on me. I've even had people put money straight into my bank account.

I have one guy I deal with on a regular basis. He wants cash, doesn't want anything running through his bank account.

Drives me crazy, as he's the only one I get cash for. I write checks for my mechanic, and his wife e-deposits them.

You don’t list the item and they will never know. Or copper rods or lead weights or steel tubes.

I think the "trusted seller" is my week point. I've always taken a man at his word and a handshake as a contract. Times have changed.

I use my debit cards and have only experienced fraud issues or attempts 3 times but the credit union's fraud department managed to catch it before payment was finalized. I know actual credit cards have protections against unauthorized charges that debit cards do not but I have never actually lost any money yet. For hunting and fishing, I do not like to do credit on that as it's too easy to go deep into debt if you do. I have Paypal myself but have not used it in years.
