I know we all look forward to the Autumn Hunting trips, but what do you do to fill up the rest of the year. I spend time with my son in baseball and we have been getting a Jeep Sahara fixed up with everything that a soon to be 14 yr. old wants on a Jeep. He wanted a 6" lift kit, we settled on a 2"! We also like to camp at a Oklahoma campground that has trout fishing. During the summer we can be found on the lake Skiing and Wakeboarding. Let me put that another way, my son, grandson and granddaughters ski! The better half likes to drift fish for catfish on Cross Lake, which is 5 minutes from the house, I had to buy her a Pontoon boat so she would have a potty! :D I sometimes go to the Riverboat casinos to eat (good eating) and to donate some money. I can be winning a little money and all of a sudden start to lose like crazy, I look over my shoulder and there stands the wife, she is the kiss of death when it comes to gambling. :( So, how about it, what do you do?

Soooo, you go to Cross Lake? You can put the rumor mill to rest or get it going stronger than ever...

Was that gator with a deer in its mouth in that lake? That is the story that I have heard the most.

I like to spend my spare time reloading and shooting... Also tie a few flies when I get really board.

Tim, I do go to Cross lake and I have had Gators bust the water as my bass boat approached. As for that Gator, Yes I was sent that with the Heading of Cross Lake! They just announced the Gator season, I would like to try that this year, if just for the Fantasy Hunt points! Have you ever eaten any? It's the toughest piece of tail you ever had!

I second that. I have only had gator one time where I really liked it and that was when my Dad cooked it. Other than that I've found it's better to use the skin and lose the tail.

I don't think there has been much of anything I've done this Summer (other than this board) which hasn't included my kids. Golf lessons, swim lessons, camping, having their friends over, shuttling them to their friends houses, etc. Is it Fall yet?

Hunting is just a bonus to me since I live in AZ I only get to go when I get drawn for big game. coyotes and archery deer are otc. coyotes I hunt year round or when I feel like it and deer I hunt a few times a year.

But I bass fish all the time since we dont have a close season.

so belive it or not relaxing time is being at work seriously

This year was spent waiting for my crispy house to be rebuilt. Usually, I'm fishing every week and waiting for bird season. I normally do my hunting up north with the inlaws. Between work, fishing, trying to be a good dad and husband, I plan my scouting trips and rig up for deer, but this year it's for mostly Elk and in two states even!

Life is good!

John, I have an Ex-wife and a daughter in Chandler, AZ. Well really my Daughter and her husband moved to a town named Maricopa. They have a little boy who I can't wait to take fishing and hunting. That's the main reason I want to retire around Pagosa Springs, CO. Close enough for visits, but far enough away for them to grow as a couple. Elk hunting in TWO states, you are living the good life!

Spend my spare time taking photos, reading, writing, trying new recipes, music, arts and crafts. Past few years have dabbled with learning a little reloading with hubby's help. Go to shooting range when can and preparing for hunting seasons few months prior. Haven't been hunting yet but when I do go, I'll probably be the oldest old gal in them woods :D

DixieLady, My Aunt Betty used to take us Hunting Deer in the Mid-sixties when the only way most in Louisiana Hunted Deer was with Dogs. She would put us out at our "stands" and then Uncle Marshall would turn the dogs loose and follow them on horse back! It was a grand event! Just when you were about to get cold or tired Aunt Betty would drive up with a Hot Sweet potatoe and a thermos of coco. Man I wish I could spend a day with my Stevens 20 Gauge and see my Uncle Marshall riding down the road blowing a horn and those dogs running behind him. It was just one big family reunion, cousins, uncles and aunts. After a days run, Uncle Marshall and I would visit every country store that had a pen for picked up hound dogs and at each stop he would buy me a 5 cent coke and a banana flip!
