Went second season Colorado elk hunting with my family. My son in law shot he first big game animal,a cow at 12,600 ft 2 hrs into the hunt. Four of them spent the night before in tents at that height. Had to rent horses to get her out.
I missed it all cause I only made it to 11700 before I petered out and my older son and I set up our camp there. Got tired of waiting for them to send me their pics so I don't have pics at the kill site yet but thought I'd post pics from my camera..
I thought we all would get elk after the quick start but seven days later and many miles walked only one herd seen one mile away as the crow flies and many,many for us to get to.After it snowed we saw no elk tracks.
Asked my 80 year old mother to make a gallon of her goulash. Got a cooler full of eats for the week.
