Personally, I don’t worry about dying of things that have never killed a single person

I feel like not experimenting with things like brains is caution enough.

Not to be contrarian but people can and do die from prion diseases: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/prion-diseases#:~:text=Prion diseases occur when normal, changes, and difficulties with movement.

You are correct that there are no reported cases of CWD jumping the species barrier into humans yet, but then again neither did SARS-CoV-2... until it did. Just not worth the risk of potentially spreading it in my eyes. Only advantage I see to eating CWD+ meat is to make oneself less palatable to roving bands of cannibal zombies in the event we have a Walking Dead kind of situation 🤣 🤣

It's not IF a disease kills you- it's what happens before that. CJD is a prion disease, and it scares the living hell out of me- https://www.cdc.gov/prions/cjd/index.html

But not all prions are created equally. That's why Mad Cow, kuru, CJD, and scarpie are all different.

I have quire a few friends that hunt in CWD areas regularly. Other than voting for Biden, I don't think they've had any issues with health over the last couple decades of consuming meat from those areas.

I'm not sure what I would do. What is the disposal requirements? I presume you aren't required to consume it if positive. I'd have a hard time tossing a couple hundred pounds of elk meat. A rutted up deer, meah.
