Henry vs Armadillo

I had one show up last year. First time ever. I was in the middle of swapping scopes around and the only rifle I had that was sighted in was a .30-06. Took a free handed shot at 75 yards but missed. Never saw it again.

Killing this rascal took two shots. First one through the chest and second up close through the back. No exit holes were observed. TR

I'll bet those critters can do some damage if hit on the highway with a low clearance car.
Starting to see a few on the roads in southern IL.

ARMADILLOS ARE REPORTED TO CARRY LEPROSY. I don't know of any southerners who eat these destructive pests. I carry the corpse to a power line cut and drop it off for the buzzards and carrion eaters. TR

There was an infestation of them at my grandparents place when I was a kid; if you saw grandma running through the field with a big rock you knew she was after one…she never shot a gun in her life but she stoned many an armadillo. I killed a great many with my .22 as a kid.
