We are going to have King Crab today but it has been so long since we have had it we forgot how to prepare them. They are already cooked but how do you heat them up? Oven? Microwave? Howlong? Water or not?

HELP!!!!!!!!!

We had some last week and we just steamed them for 8-10 minutes. We used one of those turkey frier pots with water. It worked well outside, but since you are up to your ass in snow

you may want to zap them in the mic with some water, or heat them in the oven with a little water instead.

I am guess it will taste better than the Wyoming muley goulash I just finished.

Thanks mtmiller. We through them in a pot of water and brought it to a boil and boiled them for 3 min. What temp would you use if heating them in the oven with water and for how long?

I didn't know, but here is what I found for you.

James Peterson, author of Fish & Shellfish (Canada, UK) cautions against buying thawed crab legs, because they begin to lose their freshness once thawed. For this reason, he likes thawing them and heating them in one step in the microwave oven (wrapped in a damp paper towel for four minutes or so, although the timing will vary depending on the number of legs you have). Otherwise, thaw the legs in the refrigerator for 8 hours or more. If they have been split, they are best broiled for about three minutes, after being brushed with butter or olive oil, salted and peppered and perhaps seasoned with herbs. If the legs are whole, they are best baked in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for eight or nine minutes

Hurry up and eat, it's getting pretty late.

We've used pretty much the same method mtmiller outlined in last post. I save the baggie that protects cereal when in the original box just for "nuking" seafood and baked potatoes. It seems to conserve the flavor and moisture. Just place item to be warmed inside the baggie with a damp paper towel, and crumple over the open end. "Nuke time" depends on the wattage of the microwave. Ours is a commercial model, so it is pretty quick.

Elkhunter I think if you sit in a EpsomSaltz bath and raise them slightly above your head while laying down on your back the redness and swelling will go down!
