Creek, lake, no soap in either, or don’t worry about it.

I worked on trail crew for 15 years and spent upwards of 80 days a season in the backcountry with no shower. Creeks and lakes were all we needed. Some wipes for the ol buttcrack were nice.

Now I hunt for 1-10 days without a shower and it’s the last thing on my mind. Again, wipes in cracks help.

Flame King requires pressurized water, where's that coming from?

Good point. I thought they had a version that came with a pump, but got mixed up with another brand:

Looks like a washdown pump like I have on my boat. I imagine something like that would work with the Flame King?

Yep, that should work. I bought a 35 gallon poly tank a few years ago and brought it to WY so we had extra shower water for the camper, it was awesome. Got it from an army surplus store and filled it in WY at a walmart.

We used a Zodi shower unit in Alaska. Pumped the water from a 5 gallon bucket. We would even pump it back into the bucket to warm it all up first. If weight and packing are a concern, take a solar shower bag and fill it with warm water from your fire.

i find a combination of unisom, copenhagen, and a stout black coffee is all the recharge i need to get me all horny for a new day of hunting

but i can't blame a guy for wanting a nice hot shower.

Good copenhagen is better than bad cocaine.

did you find 5 gallons was enough? could you get by with less?

Been a while but I think it covered both of us. Nice long shower for 1 for sure. Just don't be real particular about your hair.

Call me weird but a creek shower and cold water really are a game changer for me. Buy a $1 loofah at Walmart and burn that sucker the last night.

We have had one in our camps for 4 or 5 years. Usually a base camp setup somewhere and thats where the shower is. Buddy also bought a cabelas easy up shower house. Get the hot water rolling and it turns into a sauna. Its awesome having the option. I highly recommend. Cant remember what brand it is...camplux or flame king.

Seriously considering a tank less water heater setup for base camp. My hunting style usually consists of 2-3 day satellite excursions with recharges at a truck base camp. This season and next I'm cashed in on Elk points (wife too) in a unit where day hunts are going to be practical. We also live/hunt/camp in Florida and sticky sweat is another level.

We've earned our stripes with some very, very long stretches without a shower. Creek baths are great when the weather is right, but NOTHING recharges me more for a hunt than a hot shower.

I think the purchase will be justified, but appreciate input from others who have made the investment.

Are they worth it, or too much hassel?

Do these things gobble down propane? Not worried so much about the expense of gas as the hassel of storing enough. How do they perform pushing ice cold creek water through the heater?

Any brand reccomendations? I'm leaning towards Flame King after reading reviews.

Anything I'm missing?

Just bought the Joolca hot tap for the very same reason.

Same thing here. I replaced the spray nozzle with a nozzle like you use at a kitchen sink.

I’ve seen some rechargeable submersible pumps with a spray nozzle on Amazon recently. Drop em in a warm bucket and ready for a shower. May try one of these this year.

I’m looking at some of these for my small hunting cabin. I have stainless stock pots and burners so an easy deal to heat up water and just drop the pump in. No addition propane or heater set up needed. I run a dry cabin so this works in with that. Other guys seem to be always having issues with their water systems and on demand water heaters. Seems like the best no hassle system. The last few years I been just heating up water in a couple big stainless bowls and using soap and a wash rag. Shower would be best to rinse off the nasty.

Four days in the Sierras camping out of my horse trailer and it worked. Even bathed my horse...

Very bougie, no doubt. However, I hate crawling into a sleeping bag covered in dust and sunscreen. Just getting it set up before I head out.

This is the Joolca hot tap, en-suite shower / toilet area and 87 gallon Vevor water bladder in the bed of the truck.

If I was hunting next to a lake or stream I could pull the water directly out of the source.

Camping with a Teepee I use large wipes to clean off.

Warm water showers extends the trip for my family.
