Hey guys! I know this is a Hail Mary..my 19 year old son and I drove all the way from TN to elk/deer hunt in SW MT (mostly elk hunt). He pulled a couple muscles climbed to the top of a peak yesterday and I don’t think he will be able to hunt this kind of terrain. Doesn anyone have a recommendation of a bma or any public land I could take him to hunt for a decent muley or whitetail?? I’m willing to drive anywhere in the state..the deer hunting our area doesn’t look to good..I’m sorry for the desperation post. He got injured on the first day of the hunt. Feel free to PM, obviously not expecting a trophy.

Well SW MT is a big area, dunno where you are or want to go. Here's the FWP map with all the BMAs on it.

We’re staying close to Clark canyon reservoir. We were hunting the Tendoys where he got hurt..

You are smack in the middle of a TON of public land… I’d just pick a creekline and sit on it

I’m not too familiar with that area. There are some guys on here from Dillon. Maybe they will chime in. There will be whitetails in the creek bottoms, if you can find some public land.
