Hearing Protection Act gutted by House Ways and Means, need a push.

Another update: several reps in the Budget Committee led by Andrew Clyde voted this morning to block the markup of the reconciliation package directly due to the backlash of having the HPA (and the SHORT act) gutted. The markup will be delayed until a deal is reached. This is gaining traction folks, keep the calls, emails, and posts flowing with a clear message: Pass the entire original HPA.

MAJOR UPDATE: The Rules Committee just released their list of amendments and the entire HPA is back in!! Per the text this will constitute a complete removal of suppressors from the NFA. It appears the bill will go to the floor of the house either tonight or tomorrow morning, then on to the Senate. Keep up the calls, and start reaching out to Senators. We're moving steadily towards a once in a generation win for the 2A. We're not across the finish line yet but the train is back on the rails. Keep the foot on the gas!

What I saw was the change just makes the stamp cost $0. Or is there something else?

If it makes it through the Senate, will prices go up or down? I bet up for the near term.

There should, again SHOULD be a drop in prices at least in some degree. Not only was there a $200 tax to transfer a suppressor but there was also a $200 tax to build it. So up to this point $200 of the cost of every can was just to cover the building tax. On top of that I suspect this will generate more competition in the market which in theory should result in some lower prices.

That's the backup language included should the NFA removal not pass muster when it gets to the Senate. Would be a pretty crappy option vs the full NFA removal as the next time blues get full power again they will be sure to jack the price up.

I hope this passes. The cost:noise reduction ratio of cans atm doesn’t stack up well enough for me to buy one. If the cost is significantly reduced, though, I’m in.

Putting one of these on the sks might make it a centerfire rifle my wife will actually shoot.

You’re going to be hacking barrels off before you know it. I see a 20” 257 weatherby in your future
How much velocity difference you think you see with 26” tube vs 20” with a can?

So there’s not a whole lot of loss with a can?
Can really doesn’t add any meaningful velocity

The handful of 257 weatherbys I’ve had would push a 100 grain 3600-3650 with imr7828 and H1000 out of a 26” barrel. Figure 35’/inch loss which is on the higher side from what I’ve experienced so 210’ loss total
