We were on vacation to Northern California and got word our house caught on fire where we live near Cody WY. Pretty much going to be stripped down to the studs and rebuilt. Garage is a total loss. Mounts hides were ruined. Lot mounted pheasant, male sage hen and a pintail. Memories of each one. Praise God no one was home or hurt.

Feel your pain, thought we were going to be in your situation last night. Evacuated for a fast moving fire less than a mile away yesterday. Luckily air support hit it hard and within 4 hours is was knocked down, 4 retardant bombers, 4 Fire Bosses, 5 helicopters and the over watch and bomber lead planes, very stressful.

From your photo the antlers on those mounts don't look ruined, just the mount/capes? You could probably get them remounted with new donor capes. Another thing I've always wondered is if a good taxi could go from a shoulder mount to a euro for scenarios like this. Sorry for your losses.

We're you charging any lithium batteries at the time? Seems to be a big cause of house fires now.

The July Pucker from Winthorp to Cusick to Colfax. Glad that worked out for you! With the hot dry winds the last couple of days, we have been praying it stayed quiet. They can blow up so fast!

So sorry you are going through this. Hoping at least the muley mounts can be repaired? Fire leaves a mark. Like you said, praises no one was hurt.

My wife's gallows humor about our local volunteers. "My pictures will be lost, but your guns will be saved." This was before I bought a gun safe. She is probably not far off.

Keep us apprised of the restoration.

I’ve been in the claims business for almost 30 years. Check with your claim rep for companies that do restoration work on art and other collectibles. You would be surprised what can be restored. The ones in the pic are not restorable, but if you have others that took on less heat/smoke you may be able to salvage. Pm me if you have questions. I’ve answered questions for a few others here with fire losses.
