The homeowner will be here Friday. I am going to strongly suggest a carpet flooring. Especially since he will never work on his own guns. The vault is primarily a storage and display area. There is a bench and bigger space for gun maintenance in the same vicinity which will double as a space to organize flyfishing gear if he decides to deal with gun care.
