I was watching the weather on my drive into Colorado this morning, hoping for a break to try a ptarmigan spot that was in the northern part of the state rather than drive back up there later in the next 9 days.
It looked worth it & it was. No lightening in the area, light mist that let up until coming back down, when I received a rinsing off.
I was nearing the end of where I figured ptarmigan would be when the dog found them. I only can confirm two birds, my adrenaline gave me tunnel vision. At the flush & shot on the first a second one got up which I winged. I whoa'd the dog because I didn't want the birds roughed up & got into shotgun range to finish the winged one before it disappeared.
A hunt to remember!
Thank you all for putting up with my ramblings.
