Good Article on Montana Wild Sheep Issues

The Root is full of transplants that come here, run some sheep or goats then decide to leave and can't find anyone to take their animals. So sometimes they just take those animals up in the mountains a turn them lose.

Too many times, in the past 15 years we have had to report this, and the department personal had to go and get rid of them.

This is an interesting article. Big horns are an extremely high maintenance species. They are the prom queen of all big game animals.

We have had two disease outbreaks in Washington in the last 5 years. When one looks at the money and effort that goes into wild sheep, and the everyday possibility of a disease outbreak in a new herd, the future for them doesn't look all that bright. For every new hunting opportunity that is cultivated, another one goes down the drain.

Bill Hoppe is a prime example of how one closed minded and selfish individual can undo many years of work. It's sad.
