I will walk the edges of a field and look for sassafras trees, once I find one I then will start my search for a staging area inside the woods. This is usually a good place to set up for a 1st time hunt. I can watch which way the deer are moving and the trails being used at the time.
the 1st time in I have taken deer but mostly yearling doe's for freezer meat that will come in alone.
Sassafras trees have long been a favorite food and rubbing tree in the east. Anywhere you see them you will most likely find a trail.
