What 100 year old cartridges do you use

I would recommend loading up the 7x57 with 175 grain round nosed bullets for bear. You will be as they say “loaded for bear”.
I've got a good recipe for 160 grn partitions that has treated me very well in the past I'm probably going to start there.

There have been quite a few others that have gone down the road like the 30-30, 303, 7.62 Russian, etc. It really didn't occur to me until this little exercise, but I only have four rifles left that use cartridges newer than 100 years. I wonder what that says about me....

I still lean heavily on the 6.5x55 Swede for most of my deer hunting. It’s hard to beat that low recoil and sectional density even after a century. I mostly stopped using my newer magnums because they just weren't necessary for the distances I shoot.
