Glacier Park....Highway to the Sky.

I have a neighbor who is leaving for Glacier, Calgary and Banff in a couple of weeks. Part of the trip involves taking the "Highway to the Sky" if it's open. Do any of you Montana guys know if the road is open yet, and if not, when it might be? Any help would ease his tortured soul.

Don't know anything official, but I think it usually open sometime the first part of June. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a lot longer this year.

I heard from my daughter yesterday that it is not open yet. She went from Great Falls to Idaho and said lots of snow in the mountains yet. Nothing official however

Just got back from there tonight, no way. Its open to avalanche on this side. Stood there watching avalanches coming down, holy cow do they make some noise.

You can go to the website and see how far they are on each side. Usually worth a trip over to the east side even if you have to go around on Hwy 2, usually best place to see some griz, on the hill sides above Many Glacier. This year is quite different though.

Highly doubt it will be open. More snow in the forecast for the area.

It wasnt open last week but there are still plenty of other roads with great views in that area.

Thanks for the good feedback guys. I'll pass it on and maybe he won't fixate on it too much; he's a bit of a fussbudget, but he'll just have to take what he gets.
