Garmin GPS

If you have a smartphone, you already have a GPS, and with a better screen. A number of mapping apps are available. Onxmaps has land ownership but is pricey. Backcountry Navigator for a one-time cost of $13 has many different free maps and aerial photos.

Reliability, simplicity, readability and economy is what I'm looking for in a gps. If I'm in the boonies I want something other than my phone to rely on as well. Also, Garmin is the defacto Microsoft of the the gps world. Considering these three statements, I'm leaning toward the Montana 600 Camo on amazon for $390.
