Results were good. These were some of the biggest honkers we have got all year.

Nice work as usual Nemont. Just curious what you use to snow cover the blinds, do you have snow covers fit for them or do you use something else? I've heard white sheets give off a light blue reflection in the sun.

Thanks

We bought snow covers for all our blinds. White Sheets are not good if they have been washed even once, as a rule. They give off a bluish tinge that flairs birds every time.

Almost every blind out there has a snow cover that goes with it.

I have tried many different kinds, including that POS tyvek covers, the ones in the link above have been durable and are custom fit to each style of blind. The can be pricey but tell me something in hunting that isn't? $70 is money well invested to be able to hide, at least that is what I tell my wife.

Looks like you guys did have some fun.

Looks like a whole lot more fun then arguing over proposed game laws and trying to decide what one gun I would keep if the NRA failed us. Good shooting for sure!

Awesome!! I just went on a Wounded Warrior goose hunt and struck out. Not a single shot...lol It was a bright sunshiny day and the geese were flying, but wouldn't come anywhere near us. The outfitter said the sun might have been shining off of the decoys, causing the geese to skirt us and not come near us. Oh well...still had a great time

Nice work Jeff. We are pounding them down here in Helena too. Put just over 70 honkers down since December 1st. Sure has been a great Goose season, but ours might be over. 8 inches of snow in the fields now, it just rained for an hour, and another 10 -18 inches coming tonight. Pretty sure that is the death nail.

Seems like it may be time to start ice fishing to me. I am getting a work out making goose jerky, goose pastrami and pulled goose. Would enjoy a change of pace to walleye, northern pike and perch.

We have not gotten that much snow and no rain yet.

Not to wish ill on my western Montana friends but hope the mountains get plenty of snow for runoff next spring. Rising levels at Fort Peck=great fishing all summer.

My buddy is out right now. He is a rookie I took under my wing, he is trying to get every last minute in that he can. He doesn't even own a call but he did buy a blind and some decoys, so he took some of my stuff out too for a full spread, and he just go this birds for the day in an hour. It really has been ridiculously easy. I can't even think about what it would be like if we were hunting the X and not just running traffic one field over from where the birds want to go. I sure hope this snow and rain then freezing ruins the rest of the season. But the snowpack is looking to be excellent if this stuff keeps up.

Re blue tinge. The detergents with color-fast quality and brightners leave a UV hue that some critters see as a blue glow. If you research detergents then can find some that will not screw up the white sheets for hunting. I never wash hunting clothes except in non UV detergents.
