Frustrated in Idaho Part two

First, I would like to thank all of you for your good words, advice and encouragement. Today, the last day of my season, I had the privilage and luck to have 4 nice cows pass about 40 yards in front of me. They were beautiful! Since there are the first elk I have ever seen in the wild, I have nothing to compare them to, but I still consider this a successful hunt. Thank you all again! I still am thinking about taking a trip to Colorado, Wyoming, and or Montana next year. This is fun now that I have actually seen the elusive Wapiti.

It is usually alway's like this when you see them, when you get to the point where they arn't, it's time to go look for some thing else.

Some advice from a rookie (me)

1, keep after it, the more time you spend in the field, the better your chances.

2, the further away from other people you get, the more elk you will find.

3, look for fresh elk sigh, fresh tracks & poop, if you arn't finding any, try another area.

4, once you find a few ( like thoses four cows ), concentrate on that area. Wheres thers four elk, there probably fourty.
