Some people (journalists esp.) are saying that keeping Belichick out of the HoF on the first ballot is uncalled for. I am not sure I agree, but I on the other hand, I am a bit surprised.

What surprises me MUCH more is putting Sanders (Browns QB) in the Pro Bowl. That is nuts as far as I am concerned. He started less than half the games (7, I think) and had very pedestrian numbers. The press seems unfazed. What am I missing?

I would tend to agree with where you are going with this but the press is not falling for it. I hear no ranting among them. They are too upset over the cheater's first ballot rejection.

Jimmy Johnson was bent enough about Bill getting snubbed he not only named other prior cheaters that did what the Patriots did but admitted it himself. Bill should absolutely have been a first ballot HOF.

I really hope the Patriots beat the Seahawks this year to add another ring & start a new generation of whiners

P.S. I have my Lions missing the playoffs next year already.

some more than others, and Bill's general assholishness behavior day in and day out towards the press, is not going unrewarded now. That may have as much to do with as anything. Vitriol does not get a free pass (cf., current politics, esp. in Minnesota). Why did he have to always be such a creep?

Then, do not forget Deflategate. It was pretty crappy both times. But as long as Sean Payton is still in the NFL, Bad Bill will always be a second fiddle bad guy.

No idea, I do know sometimes a bunch of people more deserving refuse or can't play in the pro bowl due to injury so they go down the list until someone says yes.

Still would not have been my first choice--I do think he has talent though.
