I’m not a fan of sitting starters, but I’m for playing starters conservatively and wisely. Where do you draw the line on participation? Teddy bridgewaters career was basically ended by a non contact injury in a walkthrough. These are professional athletes, there is a certain amount of risk in everything they do.
Risk in crossing the street, but that is not at all relevant. It is about minimizing unnecessary risks. Every time a football player enters the field of play there is an x% chance of injury. When a game matters you take that risk every time. But when it is essentially a pointless exhibition you don't take the risk. It is simple risk/reward logic. There is a risk, and no reward, easy choice. If they come out healthy it only cost them a day of rest (which isn't zero at this point in the season). But if they add any injuries that is entirely on the coach and his silly bravado.
Getting it out of the way against an inferior opponent - good to go now.

I’m not a fan of sitting players. Given the competitive nature of professional athletes I’m going to guess most of them are not either. I’m not saying they need to get 100% of the snaps or even 50% but for some of these teams, like the packers, they’ve worked all season to get in a cohesive rhythm as a team and to not get those game reps in as a unit would be detrimental to their playoff success.
Bye weeks are coveted by the players. Only fans on the couch and commentators that need sound bites think an extra game this late in the season is good for any player.

I was already concerned about you but I was really starting to get nervous when you were replying to yourself until I read Sytes’ comments.
I think we may need to do a rescue intervention on Sytes' here. Maybe strap him to a chair and make him watch Vikings/Packer reruns - every single one of them.
